When You Can't See the Hand of God, Trust His Heart
Quite a few times now I have found myself in an attempt to comfort those who were experiencing difficulty or loss with the words that Dr. Andre' Rogers shared one day in a Bible doctrine class during my studies at Columbia International University. The words "When you can't see the hand of God, trust His heart" have brought me peace personally on a few occasions and I pray that those with whom I have shared them have found comfort in them as well. Until today I have never found it necessary to research the author of those words, I have simply held to their hope as I knew in my heart they reflected the true character of a loving God who always- always had our best interest at heart, no matter what our current circumstances may be. However I am now reflecting on the loss of Cecilia, a friend and co-laborer for Christ and her two beautiful daughters. Cecilia was a sweet woman of God and this seems like such a tragic situation and therefore I find myself digging a little deeper into these words today. I have found that Charles H. Spurgeon originally coined these words as a message of hope and encouragement which he used along with Romans 8:28 to minister to those in need. Later Babbie Mason & Eddie Carswell wrote a song that captured the essence of Spurgeon's thoughts. Their inspiration for writing the song according to Babbie was as follows: “We(Eddie & Babbie) have a mutual friend by the name of Ike Rikert, who pastors a Church in North Atlanta. At that time, Ike was married to a wonderful woman named Robin. Ike and Robin were expecting their first child. They went into labor and in delivery something dreadful happened, I don’t know the specific turn of events but Robin went into cardiac arrest and Ike lost both his wife and their baby. Of course, this sent Ike, a Pastor and strong Brother in the Lord, into the depths of depression, holding onto life by a thread. But, Ike became inspired by the words that Charles Haddon Surgeon had coined in his writings ,’God is too wise to be mistaken. God is too good to be unkind. And, when you can’t trace His hand, you can always trust His heart.’ Ike would refer to those words in his testimony.” This story and these words are helping me to remember that God’s love for us is never ending but neither is it dependent upon our understanding of it. So in honor memory of “C”, Rylee and Madison and for Nathan and all of the family and friends whose lives have been touched by this great pain- may you find peace in the promises of God and in His love and may the words of this song usher you into His magnificent presence even in this time of great pain.

Trust His Heart (Babbie Mason & Eddie Carswell)
All things work for our good- Though sometimes we can't see how they could
Struggles that break our hearts in two- sometimes blind us to the truth
Our Father knows what's best for us- His ways are not our own
So when your pathway grows dim and you just can't see Him, Remember you're never alone

God is too wise to be mistaken, God is too good to be unkind
So when you don't understand- when don't see His plan
When you can't trace His hand, trust His Heart

He sees the master plan- He holds the future in His hand,
So don't live as those who have no hope, all our hope is found in Him.
We see the present clearly, but He sees the first and last
And like a tapestry He's weaving you and me, to someday be just like Him

God is too wise to be mistaken, God is too good to be unkind
So when you don't understand- when don't see His plan
When you can't trace His hand, trust His Heart

He alone is faithful and true- He alone knows what is best for you

God is too wise to be mistaken, God is too good to be unkind
So when you don't understand- when don't see His plan
When you can't trace His hand, trust His Heart

Romans 8:28- “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Cecilia was called for His purpose and she loved God. The impact her life had on so many will continue to bring glory and honor to God and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I pray that the peace that passes all understanding with engulf us all and sustain each one of us through this difficult time of loss. God is faithful and I know that we truly can “trust His heart”.

To Continue to See the Glory of God

To Continue to See the Glory of God    What a blessing to be able to share the most exciting time of the Christian calendar with brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus Christ at Crescent Hill! Resurrection Sunday was a great blessing and I want to thank everyone who helped in anyway as well as those who were faithful in their attendance and support!    As you are well-aware, the excitement did not end with Jesus’ resurrection. It continued on into the days following by way of Jesus personally appearing before many disciples and demonstrating His glorified body and preparing them for His departure from earth. Included in this time were His instructions for His people to make disciples of all nations and to remain faithful to the Gospel no matter what circumstances life would bring. Jesus had spoken of His church in Matthew chapter 16 and promised that the very gates of Hell would not prevail against the force of God’s power to save, yet so often we see believers afraid of speakin

Leadership Vacuum of Christian Leadership

For many people what I am about to share is not an earth-shattering new truth or a grand revelation, but I do believe it is an important reminder for the Christian community. A few nights ago I listened to an interview with the former Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld. Regardless of the various personal opinions of the man or his job approval rating when he left his position several years ago, he still speaks from a position of experience and with a certain degree of influence. Having said that, let me assure you that I am not about to rattle off some politically-laced opinion about the current presidential administration or any other public office for that matter. What I want to talk about is a statement that Rumsfeld made repeatedly during his interview that seemed to be important to his stance on the current issue with Russia, Ukraine and the rest of the world. Rumsfeld's opinion was that the United States had willfully stepped down from a position of leadership on the

Comfort vs. Christ

I am quite positive that I am not the first to publish ideas or thoughts on the world's pursuit of comfort, but it has become an overwhelming topic for me as of late. The world is full of imperfect people of which I am most certainly a rivalry of the most imperfect that would be considered as such- yet, there is one thing that God has been able to get through to me: He is God. A simple statement, I know- but the profound'ness' of this statement is found in the fact that we truly begin to live life as He intended when we move beyond the mere utterance of these words and into the experiential living of them. "God being God" becomes a peaceful thought instead of a legalistic pressure- a calming truth instead of an overbearing rule. We come to realize that no person who possesses the kind of power that God indeed possess would ever give away something that could somehow compromise the way others perceive his power and would most likely never see the need to give som
